Project Summary
The Gardner Zemke Mechanical Division is participating in one of our nation’s premier projects. The William Beaumont Replacement Hospital at Ft Bliss in El Paso Texas is a 1.13 million square foot world class medical center. The project was awarded to Clark McCarthy Healthcare Partners II, the nation’s largest healthcare builder, for a total of $648,930,000 on January 29th 2013. The facility boasts 135 beds, 10 operating rooms, and 30 specialty clinics, to include, women’s health services, behavioral health, physical and occupational therapy, family medicine, plastic surgery, oncology and a laboratory.
Gardner Zemke has been awarded turnkey mechanical piping, plumbing and sheet metal contracts for the Central Utility Plant (CUP) and the Administration Building . Each building requires a complete and thorough BIM modeling effort which will coordinate all the trades and lead to a very productive installation. Gardner Zemke is also providing a complete engineered seismic, vibration isolation and thermal stress analysis package.
The 80,000 SF CUP houses all the critical performance chilled water, hot water, steam, condensing water and emergency electrical generating equipment and systems that run the remaining 5 buildings. Highlights include 5 – 1400 ton chillers, 5 – 1400 ton cooling towers and 4 – 25,000 MBH Boilers. Construction is well underway and is scheduled at 18 months.
The administration building is a 4 level 140,000 SF building which will provide a great environment for hospital staff and support personnel. Highlights include roof mounted air handling units, medical gas systems and active chilled beam systems. Construction is expected to start first quarter 2015 and is scheduled at 24 months.
Gardner Zemke sees the healthcare industry as a dynamic and growing market. We have the capabilities and resources to capitalize on opportunities to construct world-class healthcare facilities now and in the future. Although this project is challenging in many ways we are excited to participate and continue our commitment to support our troops and their families.
